Is an Affiliate Scholar at The Center for the Study of Genocide, Conflict Resolution, a Thomas J. Watson Fellow and a recipient of an NEA grant. She was born in New York City in 1966 and grew up in Englewood, NJ. She holds a BFA from Tulane University. She has completed major public art projects for New York City's Percent for the Arts Program and shows in galleries and museums in America and Europe. Since switching her focus from painting and sculpture to photography in 2004, her photographs have been published internationally. When not on assignment, Dermansky covers stories around the world that she is drawn to.
