18 Jun 1992, Ascot, Berkshire, England, UK --- Five elderly women on-lookers are lined against a wall outside the famous Ascot race course on Ladies' Day, the annual event on the English sporting and social calendar in June. Each are standing in order of size, from tallest (who holds a Tesco supermarket bag) to smallest and watch as a posh racegoer arrives for the day's racing dressed in a formal jacket and tails and will also have on red Ascot badges allowing him entry to this exclusive royal event attended by the Royal Family and the hoi polloi of English society. We see the two sides of the class system but it is a humorous scene. There is good nature between the two groups with smiles exchanged but here the man strides past knowing he is under inspection from the common people. --- Image by © Richard Baker/In Pictures/CorbisUK - Berkshire - Elderly women watch posh people at Royal Ascot races

15 Jan 1991, London, England, UK --- A businessman strides along a London street holding a banana whose shadow appears to be part of another man's anatomy. As strong sunlight shines on this part of a London pavement, we see the confident stride of the man in the foreground, probably on his way back from a lunchtime stroll and returning to his office with the fresh fruit and a sandwich. What cannot be anticipated by the viewer, or by the second man, is that the banana has superimposed itself to the exact place of his groin area. The banana, by its very curved shape has long been the butt of sexual innuendo and double-entendre. The surrogate penis being the perfect adult pun. --- Image by © Richard Baker/In Pictures/CorbisUK - London - Man striding with banana in hand

21 Jan 2011, London, England, UK --- Two buskers have been questioned by a police officer, their shadows played on a stone wall in Trafalgar Square. As the conversation draws to a close, the juggler of the two buskers begins to throw his red diabolo top into the air and spins it with the help of two sticks. Their respective shadows lend a clue of their numbers, that one extra person (the policeman) is still nearby. The diabolo (commonly misspelled as diablo; formerly also known as "the devil on two sticks") is a juggling prop consisting of a spool which is whirled and tossed on a string tied to two sticks held one in each hand. A huge variety of tricks are possible using the sticks, string, and various body parts. --- Image by © Richard Baker/In Pictures/CorbisUK - London - Buskers' and policeman shadows

07 Apr 2011, London, England, UK --- A TV man holds a life-size cardboard cutout of Prince William in a London street during the filming of a vox pop. In the weeks before the royal wedding event gripped a largely negative public in terms of anti-royalism, the royal theme seemed to be everywhere, with flags and memorabilia on sale everywhere. Here, the man holds up the figure to show shop assistants in the hope they'll be interviewed on their views and opinions on the British monarchy. --- Image by © Richard Baker/In Pictures/CorbisUK - London - Prince William carboard cut-out

19 Jun 2008, Ascot, Berkshire, England, UK --- From a low angle, we see the crowds of racing upper classes in the members' enclosure, gathering to watch a winning horse pass-by at the Ascot races. Top-hatted gentlemen accompanied by ladies in pink and girls in white lace dresses mingle in the area reserved for the privileged at this famous race event. The back quarters of the winning horse with its veins and muscle shine through its paper-thin skin reveal an athletic animal bred for speed and endurance. --- Image by © Richard Baker/In Pictures/CorbisUK - Ascot - Royal Ascot race winner and betting crowds

Bending down to wring a leather dry into a bucket the young man cleans his father's beloved Anglia in the street outside the family house which interestingly, is otherwise empty of other cars. This is the new age of car ownership when newfound wealth meant families could afford to buy a vehicle and travel elsewhere after the war years of 1950s austerity. The Ford Anglia is a British car designed and manufactured by Ford in the United Kingdom. The Ford Anglia name was applied to four models of car between 1939 and 1967. 1,594,486 Anglias were produced. The picture was recorded on Kodachrome (Kodak) film in about 1961. --- Image by © Richard Baker/In Pictures/CorbisUK - Westcliff - 1960s Man washes family Anglia car
